This workshop will focus the young men on how to get a job.

The topics covered will include: Understanding the job and its requirements, researching the organization, preparing an effective resume and telling your story.

Presentation Skills

This workshop will help the young men overcome fears of talking to a group of people.  Topics include:

 

  • Preparation, preparation and more preparation!

  • Understanding body language

  • Understanding the audience and commanding their attention.

Community Service

Each participant will be required to be an active member of a community service project during their participation in the program.

 

 Community service or volunteerism enables the young men to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most.

Financial Management

​Our Financial planning training session will help our young men determine short and long-term financial goals and create a balanced plan to meet those goals. ... Tax planning,  prudent spending and careful budgeting will help them keep more of their hard earned cash.  An increase in cash flow,will lead them to an  increase in capital and build wealth. 

Current Affairs/World Awareness

Our young men will be taught how to pay attention to what is happening around them, both nationally and internationally. Group discussion will be facilitated to:

  • Understand both sides of issues

  • Understand how the current event impact them and their futures. 

  • Understand how they can impact and get involved in making a difference.

Through a series of open discussion sessions, our young men will learn how to pay attention to whats happening in the world around them.

Roberts Rules of Order

Each participant will have a working knowledge of Robert Rules of Order after this session.  

A young man's leadership capability will be enhanced by being able to conduct productive meetings and facilitate group decision-making. 

 

Participants will be better able to successfully manage assemblies of any size, with due regard for every member's  opinion, achieving the general will of the group within the constraints of time and under all kinds of internal tension.

who is eligible?

Brotillion is a Comprehensive 6-10 Week Program Designed for

Young Boys, Teens and Men Ages 8-19 Who:

​

  • Demonstrate an aptitude for higher academic achievement, exemplary moral standards and a willingness to be active engagement in their community

  • Reside in Spalding county

  • A completed essay or service project

       (topic to be provided)

  • A letter of interest in participating 

  • Three (3) notarized letters of recommendation –

        Preferred sources: Church, Community Organization, Teacher or Counselor

Who Is Eligible?
Community Service

Participation Requirements 

During the program, a series of seminars, practice sessions, and social activities will be held. Participation is critical for the young man to get the full benefit of the program. 

 

Attendance is mandatory unless the absence is approved by board members. NOTE: Attendance and participation are critical components of the awards and recognition given at the end of the program.

 

Each young man is asked to contribute to the program’s charitable mission (scholarships) by obtaining as many listings (ad contracts) or sponsorships as possible for the Program Book.

Brotillion Banquet

The banquet will be the final chapter of the program to celebrate its completion and recognize individual achievement. Each young man will be required to bring an adult (parent, relative, or sponsor) to serve as an escort. Each young man has the prerogative of selecting their escort.  If requested, the Brotillion Committee will assist in the selection of an escort.

All of our young men will be winners after the program: Some of the special recognition given at the end of the program includes:

  • Sean Carter (Personal Growth) Awards– To the participants who demonstrated the most personal growth during the program period. Growth as measured by self-esteem, communication, leadership, and work ethic.

  • Barak Obama (Exemplary Communicator) Award– The young men demonstrating above-average communication skills.

  • MLK (Public Service) Award– The young man who has the most achievement in public service will receive special recognition and a Scholarship Award.

  • Mr. Brotillion– This award recognizes the young man voted by his peers as the most team-oriented and most representative of the spirit of the program during the program period

Kenneth D. Hester II

Kenneth Hester has 12+ years as a Delta Air Lines veteran, in which he has served in multiple capacities of this fortune 500 company. In his current role, he manages over 30 employees in Base Logistics. He has lead a safety and innovative culture of over 11,000 employees for 4 and 1/2 years while implementing employee engagement, accountability metrics, a social club known as "Toast Masters Inc." where he was President. He has lead 2 on-site OSHA certifications to a Voluntary Protection Program Star status within the workforce and continues to share his managerial skills by mentoring and training employees.

 

Kenneth is a committed father of six children. He spends a great deal of his time with family activities, community services involving his church family, job functions and fraternal services.

He is a prayer counselor and Youth Team Leader for 7+ years and has been humbly seeking where and how to share that same love and wisdom to any community that may cross his path.

 

Kenneth has an Associates Degree of Liberal Arts from the University of Waldorf and is currently finishing his Bachelor's Degree of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership. He holds certificates in Safety, Diversity & Inclusion, Time Management and Six Sigma Lean Waste Management.

Warin White

Warin White has over 20+ years of experience working with small to mid size organizations (non-profit, churches and schools) with technology and health related business practices. Managed different departments within several areas to improve team building, operation efficient and technology production.

 

Warin holds different degrees and certifications of success from businesses, schools and colleges as a first generation graduate. This allows and motivates him to strive to higher levels to help, assist while teaching and learning to and from the next generation of the Future Leaders. Each one Teach one is the motto and standard he uses. Warin has the will-power, mindset of an entrepreneur and the work ethics to be the BEST.  Working Hard and Smart is a must,  Living Life to the fullest is the plus.

 

Warin enjoys everyday life with his family, loves to travel, network and meet new people. He spends time with his Phi Beta Sigma, INC fraternity brothers, actively involved in different community service events and fellowship activities.

Jeff Jordan

Jeff has been in leadership roles in several Fortune 500 organizations including CVS Health, Target, Pepsi-Cola and Barnes and Noble Booksellers. As a director, Jeff has a 20+ year track record of success in retail and project management. He is an expert at creating turn-around management solutions that rapidly improve profits. He empowers associates by delivering strategic value which increases confidence and skyrockets revenue.  

​

Jeff received his Masters of Business (MBA) from Harvard University. He earned his BA from Amherst College with a double major in Economics and Political Science.

​

Jeff enjoys spending time with his sons, coaching and mentoring youth, is an active member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and is also an active members of his church where he serves on the Board of Trustees.
